Aaron Finbloom, PhD
The goal of sessions is exploration. We are explorers on a journey of investigating personal, psychological, spiritual and existential facets of your life/self/world. My sessions lead with curiosity, openness and questions. I begin with listening, connecting with what is alive for you, and co-questioning. As this process continues I will provide moments to pause, to look at things in the here-and-now, to reflect on the roles we are playing in the moment, to think about our connection, and to bring your questions into the immediacy of our relationality, bodies, and shared space. At some point I will most likely ask, “do you want to try an experiment?” These experiments take their cues from what is present and may involve things like: changing how we are talking to one another, altering the rules of dialogue, intentionally changing our roles, physically acting out some of our inner parts, roleplaying an important exchange in our lives, or collectively dreaming where we close our eyes and transport ourselves somewhere else. In all these cases the point is to see what happens in this altered container. How does changing the rules of our togetherness change you? How does this exploration change the shape and feel of your questions? What do your shadows look or feel like in this play container? Sessions always end with time for reflection and integration. I have never had a more meaningful experience in the pursuit of self work. Aaron was a sensitive guide who empowered me to connect to parts of myself I was maybe a little afraid to on my own. It was a completely unique and deeply personal experience each time." "Aaron has an original approach to therapeutic-adjacent exploration. The techniques that he employed during the sessions helped to put me in conversation with myself in interesting and revealing ways. Aaron is flexible and willing to listen in order to create a setting that fit my needs, desires, and curiosities. Working with Aaron is great for anyone looking for non-traditional ways to explore oneself." "I experienced Aaron as a wonderful facilitator, supplying the perfect environment for exploration of self and other; he hold a steady container yet also gently nudge us to the edge and beyond. Aaron offers and elicits from us a strong presence, somewhere in between praying and playing. And he asks right-on questions that both delve and re-assure that it is safe to come out of our hiding places." Pricing: I offer income-contingent sliding scales rates.
