CALL FOR CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK REPRESENTATIVESOver the next month, The Deep Play Institute (DPI) will be selecting a handful of conceptual framework representatives for a virtual written correspondence project. Some examples of what we mean by conceptual frameworks: psychoanalysis, marxism, ancient greek stoicism, tantric buddhism, existential kink, queer theory, object oriented ontology, structuralism, keynesian economics, afrofuturism, process philosophy, pataphysics. While representatives don’t need to be experts, they should possess more than basic knowledge—moderate fluency is required. They must be well-acquainted with their framework and able to interpret it with creativity, intelligence, and nuance. DPI will then create a website featuring all the representatives and their respective conceptual frameworks. Participants will visit this site and, for a small fee ($20-80), select three frameworks: one appetizer, one main course, and one dessert. They will also provide a brief explanation of a problem or issue in their life. These selections will be sent to the framework representatives, who will have one week to write a brief paragraph explaining how their framework would address the participant’s issue. Each conceptual framework representative will receive 25% of the income gained from a given participants transaction. This project is informed by the value of idealogical polytheism (Hillman and Nietzsche) and contemporary interpretations on the buddhist concept of emptiness (Ziporyn and Burbea). To move between conceptual frameworks begins to open one to the idea that no single framework governs truth. Instead, we begin to choose frameworks based on their practicality and potential to foster ease, freedom, and liberation. By embracing the contextual nature of truth, we recognize that different situations require different approaches, and only a radical openness to the present moment can reveal the most effective path forward. CALL FOR VIRTUAL DEEP PLAY FACILITATORS (WINTER 2025)The Deep Play Institute will be hosting a 6-week virtual series of workshops held over zoom during January-February 2025. DPI is seeking facilitators to lead a 2-hour workshop for the series. Here’s a writeup of the same workshop series offered in last winter (2024): Playing when the Playing gets Hard. At The Deep Play Institute we believe that play can be deep, profound, serious, heavy, challenging and intense. But sometimes, the weightiest of weights don’t want to be played with. It might feel like the last thing in the world you are able to is reflect, let alone bring levity, creativity, or play. What do we do then? Join the DPI Team as we take you on a 6 week journey through a variety of playful practices that offer ways to find play in the most unplayful of moods. Please reference our past workshops to get a sense of the kind of material we are looking for. Facilitators will be paid between $100-200 USD for their workshop (depending on # of registered participants for the entire workshop series) Applications due by Nov 8th |
